bet365 Sports Betting – Why not in the USA?

It has been long debated whether sports betting should be allowed in the US. Based in the UK, bet365 is accustomed to gambling as it’s part of the fabric of the Englishman. However, legislation in the US has been hardly lenient. The recent scrapping of PASPA, a piece of legislation banning all forms of sports betting across the country, may be in fact about to change this.

New Jersey has managed to defeat the ban in the Supreme Court of the United States, meaning that individual states will have to decide whether sports betting is allowable on their territory. This will certainly open up new venues for established companies to explore. Bet365 has already been lobbying for sports betting, paying $18,000 a month with Cozen O’Connor Public Strategies to help the operator legalize the activity in the State of New York.

If New York Is Successful, Then What?

If bet365 efforts prove successful in New York, this will not mean that other states will accept it. However, it’s likely that New Jersey, Nevada, and Delaware, who are championing gambling and sports betting already, will follow suit and offer bet365 to operate on their territory, running its facilities. The US remains widely divided over the issue and local opposition may undermine the future legalization of the activity in certain places.

But if you ask our honest opinion, we think the arrival of bet365 is simply unavoidable. There are the aforementioned states which are simply sorting out other gambling aspects at the moment, but it won’t be before long that bet365 recieves an invitation to run its activities across a handful of states to begin with. One miner point here is that William Hills has already established its operations in Nevada and is pushing for a similar move across New Jersey.

Will Payment Options Become Available to US Gamers?

If an operator is legally allowed to operate inland, a few questions will have to be addressed about the payment options available. US gamers are usually accustomed to scanty few options and most of the withdrawals either take too long or are too expensive. The introduction of an operator of the stature of bet365 may help break up the mold and let bettors move their money into and out of bookmakers without having to cover costly fees.

Still, it’s unlikely that we will immediately see US gamers enjoying the same variety of payment options as do Europeans for example, largely because most of the payment methods overseas are themselves are banned in the US.

Conversely, we may witness the advancement of alternative mobile payment options along with e-wallets that are in fact legal in the United States. The arrival of legalized and respected firms such as bet365 may add an unknown number of gamers to the fold. Some of the surveys we have found online indicate that over 50% of the adult population has participated in some form of gambling one year before the time of the interview.
